Still no Luck

It's been a little more than a week since the last post.  I am moving the trap to a different location, as I had no luck in the alley.  I've also been checking the Humane Society every couple of days, but no India.  I really wish I had had her microchipped.  I had been under the impression that microchipping was very, very expensive, but as it turns out I could have had it done at the Humane Society for $20.  If only I had known (Henna is now microchipped).

My posters blew down in the wind.  I will put them back up; and refresh my postings on Craigslist, Nextdoor, and Lost Pets of Whatcom County's Facebook Page.  I'm really hoping a neighbor found her and is keeping her safe, and then she might eventually get outside again and come home.

Yesterday was 4 weeks.  Tomorrow will be one month.  I have heard stories of cats randomly coming back after as many as three months, and someone at the shelter said a cat once turned up at the shelter after a year and the kitty and family were reunited.  I hope it will be our turn soon.

    Hi there. I don't have your cat- I live in Seattle. I just found this blog because I'm constantly on CL looking for a "Found" for my guy, who has been missing for three weeks. I understand the pain you are feeling, and I just want you to know how badly I want you to find your kitty. I would give anything to get my Milo back, and after this experience, I will never look at a "Lost" flyer again in the same way. I will always understand just how bad it hurts when these little fur faces go missing- he is *always* on my mind and I'm worried sick about him. Anyway, they are amazingly resilient, and there are lots of stories of cats who find their way back after months gone. Sending you lots of support!!

    Thank you so much for your kindness. I can certainly commiserate. I agree that I will never see a lost flyer the same way, and I would do just about anything to have India home again. If worry and tears and prayers could have brought her back, she would have been home long ago. Have you had any luck finding Milo? Unfortunately for us, we are still waiting for our happy reunion.

I did manage to trap a cat, but unfortunately it wasn’t India. It was my aunt’s cat, who is one of India’s sisters. I had been worried that India might be too big for the trap, so knowing that her slightly bigger sister can get into the trap is good to know. I also received a tip that a black cat had been sighted in the 1500 block of 36th Street, which is not far from us. I have moved the trap up there and will be checking it regularly. I hope the black cat is India and that we catch her soon.

A bit of Hope

I still have had no luck with finding India.  I had a call about a possible India sighting, but in retrospect the person who though she saw India now thinks it might have been another black cat.  She said she would prefer not to have the trap on her property until she has another sighting.  I have not had any additional information from the person who said she saw a black cat in the 1500 block of 36th Street, either. But someone has recently seen black cat, and has offered to try to capture it when they see it next.  The location seems a little far away to be India, but it could be her and I certainly appreciate any effort to bring her home. Also, when I was at the Humane Society (for the zillionth time, it feels like) they said the average search lasts 4 months.  They said that people will see a pet looking ragged and take it in, and then after a few months will bring it to the shelter.   Tomorrow will be two months, so I'm only half way there.
